ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The NMISA Revised SI Conference will be held at the Capital Hotel, Menlyn Maine, between 15 and 16 May 2019. The conference will focus on the impact of the revised SI on Africa, strategies to ensure traceability to the SI units and the linkage to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The international context will be delivered by the President of the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM) and metrology experts will explain the technicalities of the revision and plans to realise the revised definitions of 4 of the 7 base units of the SI.

Prominent academics will introduce research programmes to develop the realisation techniques and international training experts will share their knowledge on how to train metrologists, scientists and learners to use the Revised SI and Metrologists will have the opportunity to visit the NMISA laboratories on the morning of 17 May.
